Dr. Tonya Harris
Board Chair
Dr. Tonya Harris takes a vision and creates the strategy to ensure the vision becomes reality. With a persnickety eye for details, while remaining focused on the big picture and personnel, she galvanizes resources to support innovation and productivity. Dr. Harris has served as a leader in the educational space with job titles ranging from substitute teacher to Superintendent of School. Beyond her love for students and their learning, Dr. Harris demonstrates the passion and resilience of being a lifelong learner, as she became Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) certified after earning her Ph.D. in Leadership in Educational Administration. Currently, she is extending her impact by pursuing a juris doctorate.
As a Board Member of Be That Girl, Dr. Harris brings decades of experience working with students in rural, suburban, and metropolitan areas. Further, she has worked at all three PK-12 levels and works tirelessly to create opportunities for children to succeed.
Dr. Gwen-Dolyn Cutter
Vice Chair
With demonstrated commitment and dedication, Dr. Gwen-Dolyn Cutter has over 20 years’ experience in Medical Program Manaement with responsibilities encompassing market research, trends identification, grant management and writing; proposal design, policy and procedure development, personnel hiring, budget management, multi-office location management, intergovernmental relations, and collaboration with public and private institutions. She has developed extensive resource network: diligently work and interface with elected officials and legislators, regional hospitals, social service agencies, colleges/universities, federal and state program officers, and the business community. Dr. Cutter is a graduate of the Coca Cola Company Diversity Leadership Academy of Atlanta and selected one of Georgia’s top 100 Leaders. Other affiliations include member of the American Society of Public Administrators, Inc., past chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Advisory Board, Atlanta Women’s Policy Group, National Congress of Black Women, Inc., Morehouse School of Medicine Program of Public Health Advisory Board, Grady Hospital Visitors Board, DeKalb County Greenspace Advisory Council, National Congress of Black Women, Inc., past vice president of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., past president of the Decatur-DeKalb Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. In this capacity, she established the chapter’s signature program, the Legacy Program, Inc., a leadership development program for young girls in the 9-12 grades attending high schools in DeKalb County. Tyiska Demery
Secretary
Tyiska Demery fondly known as Tia has over ten years front line and supervisory experience in adolescent and maternal child health providing human resources, managing budgets, monitoring grants, operations, recruitment, employment relations and customer service within the non-profit and social service sector. She joined Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential in 2008 and currently serves as the Training & TA Program Manager. Design, deliver, and evaluate specific training and other performance improvement interventions. Demonstrate exceptional training skills in leading large group discussion, group facilitation and managing controversial subject matter using a wide range of training strategies to train foster care parents, foster care workers, Boys & Girls Clubs, and other local community partners. She specializes in training individuals on adolescent sexual health, FOCUS (Fostering Our Children with Understanding Support). Tyiska is trained as a certified instructor for Mental Health First Aid, Mindset, and Better Brains for Babies. She obtained her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Clark Atlanta University and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Fisk University. She enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family.
Alyson Britt, Ed.S.
Finance Chair
Alyson Britt, Ed.S. is an educational leader with over 30 years of experience working with students from day care to senior centers. She currently serves as the Instructional Technology Specialist for a cluster of charter schools in metro-Atlanta. She is an avid community volunteer and has donated her time and resources to Habitat for Humanity and Hands on Atlanta among other organizations. She enjoys traveling, reading, puzzles, spending time with her family, attending concerts and all things for the culture. Alyson is committed to ensuring future generations develop the skills required to lead their communities with confidence and integrity.
